Since everything collects dust and gets dirty over time it’s good to have processes and procedures in place to clean them on a regular basis. If dusting is the only thing you have time in your schedule to do, then do it and you’ll see the results of your work immediately. Cleaning upholstery, carpets and oriental rugs take a bit more effort, but the idea behind it is the same.
Try to schedule in a few cleaning initiatives into your monthly schedule that don’t require all that much effort. That way you won’t give up on cleaning again or let it collect dust for three months. If you don’t have time to add cleaning to your schedule because work is where you spend most of your time, then perhaps you have the additional funds to have a professional cleaning company take care of the bigger chores. Then you can focus on the smaller things without getting overwhelmed or considering it a part-time job of its own.
Get off your butt!
Think of a very small task and get up and do it! Sometimes one task will lead to a second and a third because you had more time in your schedule that you didn’t realize. Some of us need to schedule some relaxing time at the end of the night, but you can still clean for 30 minutes when you arrive, then relax afterwards. It can be even more relaxing to sit on the couch after cleaning your upholstery because you have one less thing on the back of your mind.
Soap and water
Soap and water is much more powerful than you think. Commercials promote brand name products that claim to work miracles, but soap and water will take care of most chores. When you have stains engrained in your carpet for months you may need some special treatment, but I wouldn’t spend my money on a special product, instead I would call a professional to have my carpets cleaned with experience.
